The Nagasawa Family Photos

August 2021

From August 9 - 13, we went to Cobscook Shores and Acadia National Park, though John stayed home with his grandpa. We were hoping to see the Perseid meteor shower. We were very grateful to have two fairly clear nights where we did!

In the morning, we rented kayaks to paddle on the Somes Sound, the narrow ocean area between the two sides of Mount Desert Island, which opens to the Atlantic at the southern end of the Sound. Ming tipped her kayak when she first pushed off. So she decided to stay back, dry off, and warm up.

We went over to the Beehive -- to hike it!

This is the view from the top of the Beehive. We are overlooking Sand Beach.

On the way down from the Beehive...

It was nice and warm at Sand Beach...

Until the fog rolled in at 4pm. Then, the temperature dropped 20 degrees instantly!

We went to Pat's Pizza in Bar Harbor

To eat this lovely pizza.

Then we drove to the western side of the island to Seal Cove, to catch the sunset.

Caught a reflection of sunlight on the back side of the boat...

At night, we took a few night photographs from the shores of the campground. Here is Somes Sound at night.

Zoe got up at 2am to see the Perseids again. While she saw over a dozen, she wasn't able to photograph any either, despite the long exposure shots of the Nikon.
