The Nagasawa Family Photos

August 2021

From August 9 - 13, we went to Cobscook Shores and Acadia National Park, though John stayed home with his grandpa. We were hoping to see the Perseid meteor shower. We were very grateful to have two fairly clear nights where we did!

For breakfast, we drove into Bar Harbor and went to Jeannie's Great Maine Breakfast. I got the Frenchman Bay Benedict: Herb Biscuit topped with Spinach, Tomatoes, Avocado and Two Poached Eggs smothered with Homemade Mornay Cheese Sauce and Homefries.

Ming got the Salmon and Eggs Benedict. Zoe got the French Toast stuffed with cream cheese, topped with Maine Blueberries.

Then we drove to Bass Harbor, which is on the southern tip of the western side of Mount Desert Island. The old lighthouse is there.

Saw an old lobster trawler in the mist.

Here's the Bass Harbor Lighthouse up close.

We went back to our campgrounds at Somes Sound.

Here is the water at high tide.

Then within 2 - 3 hours, here is the water at low tide. Wow, huh?

We went back to Bar Harbor for dinner.

The mist rolled in over the sand bar. Bar Harbor is named for the sandbar.

For dinner, we ate at West Street Cafe Seaside Grill. Here is the Baked Haddock (haddock topped with seafood stuffing) with brussell sprouts.

Here's the lemon and parmesan scampi with haddock.

Here's the "Cafe Delight": Lobster meat, North Atlantic shrimp, and mushrooms topped with our homemade cheese sauce, served over pasta.

And a bowl of clam chowder.

Of course, blueberry pie (Maine blueberries) with vanilla ice cream.

Hard to photograph the crescent moon...

We went to Cadillac Mountain to see if the mist and clouds would break. They did! We saw some of the Perseid meteorite shower, too, but unfortunately didn't capture any on camera.
