From August 30 - September 5, we joined some friends at Martha's Vineyard.
First we had lunch and took it over to Ocean Park, which is surrounded by picturesque houses on three sides, and the ocean on the fourth.
Then we went to the "Gingerbread Houses." In 1835, a Methodist community selected this location as a place to hold camp meetings. They built a sanctuary building...

...and the tents eventually became 318 houses around the meeting spaces. It became a permanent community, and the houses eventually became known as the "gingerbread houses" because of their colorful Victorian style, called "Carpenter Gothic." It is now the Wesleyan Grove National Historic District.
We finished our stay by eating at Carousel Ice Cream, which has a rating of 4.5 stars. It was a little too sweet, in my opinion...
